Privacy
Our work happens in people's homes and during important moments in their lives, so we treat what you share with care. Life Shelf collects only what you choose to send us, and uses it to reply to you and to do the work you ask us to do.
What we collect
When you use our contact form, we receive what you enter: your name, your email address, your phone number if you give it, your message, and your answers to the form's other questions, such as which package interests you and how you heard about us. When you call or email us, we receive your number or address and what you tell us.
If you hire us, we also keep the information we need to do the work well. That may include your home address, photos of your spaces or belongings, lists and notes about your possessions, scheduling details, and invoices and payment records. Payment details are handled by the payment services you choose to use. We do not store full card or bank numbers.
Sensitive circumstances
Our work often involves moves, aging, caregiving, loss and family decisions, so clients sometimes tell us about health, mobility or family matters. Share only what you are comfortable sharing. Life Shelf is not a healthcare provider and is not covered by HIPAA, but we treat this kind of information with discretion and confidentiality. We use it only to plan and do your project. We never use it for marketing.
How we use it
We use your information to reply to you, to plan and carry out any work you hire us for, to schedule and invoice, and to keep the ordinary records a small business needs. We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who sees it
Anything you share about your home and family while we work together stays private. We share it with other people, such as an electrician, a mover or an attorney you work with, only when you say yes first. We may also share information if the law requires it.
Who else handles it
Our website is hosted by Netlify, which also receives and stores contact form messages for us. Our email, documents and files are kept in Google Workspace. The site's fonts come from Google Fonts, which receives your browser's IP address when a page loads. We also use invoicing and payment services to bill for our work. Each of these companies handles data under its own privacy policy, and we choose tools that use reasonable safeguards.
Cookies and tracking
This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not measure visits. Because we do not track visitors, we do not respond differently to a browser's Do Not Track setting. If that changes, we will update this page first.
How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it to do the work, keep business and tax records, meet legal requirements and settle any questions that come up later. When we no longer need it, we delete it or return it to you.
Keeping it safe
We limit access to the people who need it to do the work, and we use password-protected accounts and secure services. No system is risk-free, but we handle what you share carefully.
Children
Our services are for adults, and this site is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children. When we work in a home with children, any mention of them is limited to the organizing itself, such as whose belongings are whose.
Your choices
To see, correct or delete what you have sent us, or to stop receiving email from us, write to hello@thelifeshelf.com or call (734) 478-0473. We will respond promptly, and we will honor your request unless the law or our tax and business records require us to keep something.
Changes
If we change this page, we will post the new version here with a new date.
